Don't Look Back

Turning the pages of an old picture book
Frozen images somebody took
I can't believe that's how I used to look
What ever happened to him?

There's a girl on my arm and she's dressed all in white
I remember that nothing ever felt so right
Smile for the camera, bathed in the light
The adventure about to begin

They say don't look back, don't ever look back
The past is over and done
But if you don't know where you came from
You don't know how far you've come

Summer Sunday mornings back in simpler times
So long ago but the memory shines
Like the sun on the river where we spent our time
Watching ships and dreaming our dreams

Cowboys and Indians and brave Robin Hood
On the side of the angels, a warrior for good
Then you grow up to find nothing stays like it should
Not everything is what it seems

They say don't look back, don't ever look back
The past is over and done
But if you don't know where you came from
You don't know how far you've come

Sad times and sorrow, the pain of regret
Cold empty feelings you'd rather forget
So you bury them somewhere so deep down and yet
These things make you what you are

So deal with tomorrow the best you know how
Give it your best shot and then take a bow
'Cause you wouldn't be standing here, where you are now
If you hadn't made it this far

They say don't look back, don't ever look back
The past is over and done
But if you don't know where you came from
You don't know how far you've come
